Our Leadership

Our founder is an experienced Chief Executive with a record of successful leadership in government, non-profit, corporate, and academic sectors. A strategic thinker, she is experienced in policy analysis, issues management, public relations, strategic planning, public speaking, public opinion shaping communications, and government.

Our People

Our associates have vast experience in creating opportunities for earned media, crafting public policy solutions, managing issues from the grassroots to the highest levels of government, managing referendums and candidate campaigns, and managing in corporate, government, and non-profit settings. In addition, they bring expertise in writing, teaching, public speaking, and strategic planning. Libertas associates have worked for and with some of the largest corporations in the world and for and with some of the highest ranking government officials in the world.

Lori Roman

Our Founder

Lori Roman is the former president of the Salt Institute, an industry trade association. She is also the former executive director of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a public policy organization of 2,500 state legislators, 87 members of Congress, and members of the British and European Parliaments. Formerly, Ms. Roman served as the Chief of Staff of the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives at the U.S. Department of Education, where she was responsible for strategic planning and management of resources to achieve the goals outlined in the President's Management Agenda. Ms. Roman came to the U.S. Department of Education to serve as Director of School Choice. After this role, she held the position of Senior Advisor on Family Educational Rights in the Office of Innovation and Improvement at the Department.

Before to coming to Washington, Ms. Roman founded and ran a public policy non-profit in Michigan and taught business and ethics at a private college in Michigan for six years. Over the years, she has provided expertise to numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations, schools, political campaigns, and referendum campaigns. Her diverse career has also included work in television and the automotive industry.

Ms. Roman is a veteran of public policy debate. An accomplished speaker and writer, she has been featured in various radio and television outlets, as well as magazines and newspapers. Her editorials have appeared in numerous publications. She holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration and a Master's of Science in Administration.
